Boiled a Ham with Onions, Carrots, Bay & Peppercorns.

What best to do with the stock??

Either use it for soup, make a sauce to go with the ham or freeze until you need a good ham stock. Sounds dribbingly good  ;)
I was born with nothing and have most of it left.

If the ham was very salty, so too may be the stock. Have a taste before using.

 Split-pea soup? Just the weather......

Stock in which to cook filled fresh pasta + white beans leaving a 'wet' dish? Classic!

Freezes beautifully......

I did a ham in part water, part apple juice with onions and seasonings only yesterday. Today I have used the stock to make soup by adding carrots and butternut squash, garlic and ginger. I'm just about to whiz it all before adding some cream. This is what I did last time I cooked a ham and was asked to repeat the soup for today.

PS I did de-salt first.

My Mum always made a lentil soup with the ham stock, it was par for the course when the ham was cooking  :P

Add lentils, carrots, onions and chuck in a few bits of ham minutes before you are due to serve, to die for :P

God bless her soul, my kids (now big boy adults ;D) still ask for Grandmas lentil soup if ever they see a ham cooking  :P

I did Lentils eventually - great!
