I thought toad but aren't they dark brown/black?
I've got a babby toad that's almost black, and the frogs I've come across are very pale yellowy green.
plus he has that frog stripe down the sides of his face and his legs look froggy.
but his skin's lumpy looking so now I'm not so sure!

Looks more like a frog than a toad, though I do understand your hesitation.

Does he hop or crawl? Frogs hop, toads crawl.

Carls3168

Did he hop or crawl?

Hop = Frog
Crawl = Toad

;D

froglets

Its a Frog

Lovely colours, what's it's name?
is it in the sale?
(South Cheshire)

kenkew

The brown patch behind the eye says it's a frog, not a toad.

norfolklass

I was about to say that he sort of scrambled, more of a crawl than a definite hop, so toad?
but then kenkew posted, so now I'm confused again!
do frogs always hop?

s/he looks quite fat, so lazy frog with full tummy??? ;D

froglets

Frogs don't always hop, depends on how agitated or cold or lazy tehy are.  As Kenkew says, he has the brown patch behing his eyes whcih toads never have.  Toads are much more warty and have dry looking skin.  You chap has a bit of the Mr Sheen about him.

One of my Green frogs having a pimply day   ;D
is it in the sale?

I might be wrong....just checking some of my other books....BRB.

norfolklass

aha!
googled bufo bufo and found a page that says "Their eyes are orange with horizontal black pupils." so mine must be a frog.

he looks just like yours, froglets, apart from colour ;D

kenkew

My books say 'Common frog' but not so common these days due to food decline.

Robert_Brenchley

Definitely a frog. One reason they're a lot scarcer than they used to be is the destruction of breeding sites.

manicscousers

good grief..we've got loads this year, i keep tripping over my feet trying not to step on them  ;D

shirlton

We have them in all shades from yellow thru to red. Apparently this colour variation is qiute common now.
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Robert_Brenchley

It always has been, they're pretty good at changing colour to suit the envornment. It's particularly obvious with toads; I think every one I've ever found has matched the local soil.

cacran

Def a frog. Toads are more stubby and warty.
