encouraged by meeting some of you lot at Barnsdale and seduced by the nice weather, I have at long last extended my role as occasional labourer for Caroline7758 and planted a few bits a pieces of my own in a small and previously unregarded part of our plot.

When we first got the lottie I did insist on ordering and indeed planting some asparagus crowns but to my shame Caroline has done all the tending of them since that first year.

I am hoping to exorcise a few demons here too. As a child I was given a patch of garden and planted some carrots. Not one little green shoot emerged and my lack of green-fingers entered into family mythology. So I have planted some rows of carrots, along with some swedes and a few herbs. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Good luck.  I'm sure you'll do fine.  ;D

Oh well done Tadpole,it must be the time of year or something because my John planted his first seeds all by himself a week or two ago as well. I was going to chuck the pot out as I thought it was just a pot of soil,he quickly stopped me and coyly said he had planted some orange pips.  I have known him since 1958 and this is a true first.

I hope your little garden grows well for you, I will certainly have my fingers crossed for you...dump those demons. XX Jeannine
When God blesses you with a multitude of seeds double  the blessing by sharing your  seeds with other folks.

I've certainly got my fingers crossed!  ;D

Good luck feller, that's where we all start....and don't worry, if something doesn't work, something else will.

And next year, the opposite will apply!   ;D

Welcome.
I hoe, I hoe, then off to work I go.

and, it probably had nothing to do with your lack of green fingers, it was slugs..welcome to the wonderful world of growing veggies  ;D
hope they keep away this time, happy planting  :)

Good luck, veggie growing is a wonderful pastime...

About your carrots though, I sowed two rows of carrots that did come though but were eaten straight away, so it may not be that you can't grow them - just that someone spotted their juicy little shoots before you did.... ;)
