Slugs don't seem to attack onions and garlic so much.

grawrc

they like nice soft lush green stuff best I think.

Curryandchips

My red lettuce rarely get nibbled, so I presume they are not keen ...?
The impossible is just a journey away ...

???????????????

You must be joking. If I didn't walk round my onion bed each evening Iwould not have any onions. They prefer onions to garlic but they will make a mess of that as well if given the chance.

That's really odd Eristic - slugs are a real problem here, and I can honestly say I don't have any problem with them eating onions or garlic at all, and I don't put pellets down either. They will happily attack lettuce, strawbs, beetroot etc planted in the next bed, and leave the onions alone.

pye

Tomatoes and onions.

Slimy b******s have just polished off half my squashlings  >:( >:(
You been goofin' with the bees?

I've just planted loads of parsley plants for sacrifice, hopefully they'll leave the celery alone  :)

I've got two hedgehogs - one in the front and one at the back. Think I should take them to the lotties? ;)

In fact my son and I have just been down on the allotment (rooting around in the dark) he just said "it's disgusting when you step on a slug".  Not really listening, I replied "poor thing".  Did I really mean that?

Nasty b*gg*rs!
I do feel for you, with them being as bad as that !

I planted hostas into my front garden which is covered in gravel.

Over the last couple of days they have been muched, I cant belive that the slugs are able to go over the gravel. I have seen it myself watching them sliter over it.

I can only think the rain provieded a surface they could travel on. :-(

Either way the slug pellets are going on tomorrow.
