I've tried to grow two lots of boby beans but they came to nothing. Does anyone have a few yellow or purple french beans I could sow?

RR,

I have some Dwarf French:
'Haricot nain Mangetout Beurre de Rocquencourt'
lovely flavour and quick growing, good cropper. Bought last year in France, sowed  on 23 June and picking from August thru October.

Can spare +/- 30 seeds if that will help.

On subject of germination, this year, all Runners and Climbing French Beans are growing like mad things

I've Ferrari and fandango going spare (as well as more Bobi Bianco)  if that's any use?

Have just re-read these posts, more carefully  :)

I have some 'Boby / Bobis' seed which was a swap with Doris-Pinks on A4A and I spelled it 'Bobis' ?

If this is the same Bean, mine are doing very well.
I used my usual system:
Place Beans on wet kitchen tissue in Margarine box, sealed with cling film. Place on Boiler top (+/- 24 C) this done on 11 May.
After several days small root should appear, remove each rooted seed and pot up in small individual pots, grow on in cold Greenhouse.

When Green shoot appears, pot up into 3 inch Pot (or 'Muller Light' pots  ;))
When outside conditions are suitable (you are on your own with this decision  ;D) plant out.

I find this a very reliable system and do not waste time sowing and waiting for 'non performers'

To the point ..... my 'Boby / Bobis' are going great guns and almost ready for planting outdoors.

Apologies for mis-information, I have just been searching Ask.com and found Boby and Bobis Beans, 2 different varieties:

DWARF FRENCH BEAN BOBY BIANCO
Dwarf green bean with stringless pods about 12cm long. You can now find Italian Boby beans in Covent garden market. Recommended by Cucina Caldesi as used in their recipe 'Fagiolini in sugo di pomodori'. Green beans in tomato sauce. 60g. Sow Apr-Jun

and

FRENCH BEAN BOBIS NERO
Climbing French bean with black seeds. Plant 180-190cms tall, vigorous and very productive. Green pod, with beans held in bunches (like grapes), pencil pod, meaty, stringless and about 12cms long.

sorry about that, should have researched the names before posting, I blame the ageing process and Spring heatwaves  ;D
I am growing 'Bobis', the Black podded climber
