I don't entirely agree. We've grown the long type up here, with windbreaks & cover at night, & got some 10 fruit per plant. I think the long or Mohican/Snowy type are bound to be better for outdoors.

Tim, just out of interest, do you plant out your toms into the greenhouse when the flowers show?  I cant see from the picture.

Chris - funny you should ask - that has always been the teaching but I have never been able to achieve it.

The dried up specimens you get at centres are always in flower, but mine don't get their first truss until they've been in the g'house for a week or two & are some 18"high.

Can't keep them in the lean-to any longer or they would be unacceptably leggy.  And we need the room anyway!

Glad you said that tim.  Space and impatience dictated that I've planted all the toms with not a flower to be seen.  Nor are there any on the few remaining in smaller pots, so I live in hope.

Last night i had to move the Garden perle out into the garden as it was getting too big.

Needed the room for the rest of the tom plants.
