Went to Spain for a week of sun etc. Ha! It was b****y freezing most of the time AND 'he' got manflu on Tuesday and made it last 'til today. ::) I would sympathize if he wasn't soooo dramatic........'I have never been so very ill, what have I done to deserve this, etc. etc.' Anyhow, he rallied at feeding time and we ate and drank alot. We still enjoyed ourselves nonetheless and will probably return in October in the hopes of seeing some sun.
Now for a mighty sowing, beans French and runner, sweetcorn, cougette and marrow, and a big tidy up on the plot. I've dedicated the rest of the week to gardening matters and everything else can wait.(or someone else can do it ;D)

the o.t. has arranged for us to get bannisters fitted, brill
..I've transplanted the four butternut squash that came up so we should have plenty this year

went to netto and got some corn seeds for 19p, incredible f1, only 7 of the royalty are showing and I need 14 for the poly, thought this was quite a good deal, only 14 seeds but that's enough   :)

Emagggie

Are Ray's aids the digital kind Maz? If so I will be interested to know how he gets on with them.

Only six sleeps to go Omarg.... ;D

Well I think we should all expect out tender ,too soon planted veggies to croak now cos Manics has taken the leccy blanket off the bed so there's bound to be a freeze. Actually having said that, maybe if I wash the windows it will rain, it usually does. XX Jeannine

you'd think so..he wears it about 9 months of the year.. good grief, I've just remembered liberty bodices ..anyone else remember them , now I'm really showing my age  ;D

Jeannine

Oh yes, not arf!! With little rubber buttons on that went through a boil. I wore them on top if a hand knitted abb wool vest, along with long leg directiore knickers with a pocket that  I used to keep toffee in . The buttons on the liberty bodice fastened to loops in my knickers. Goodness knows how it got the name Liberty bodice!!

I remember arguing with my mother to wash the woollie vest after she knitted it cos it was greasy, she refused saying the lanolin kept the trawler men warm so it would keep me warm too.

Did I really live through that.XX Jeannine

Manic like the words in the song "Oh yes I remember it (them) well!!!!"

Emagggie

I used to cut the buttons off mine in the hopes that Ma would be too busy to sew them on again ;D
Crikey Jeannine, what happened in an 'emergency'? :o I bet it took ages to undo that lot.

The leg holes were quite wide I found !!!! Anyway if I pulled the knix down  too often the black wooly stockings with garters around the top of my leg got pushed out of place, cos the knicker legs went over the top of the stockings.  XX Jeannine

3 sleeps to go now Omarg  ;
A very pleasant few days have passed, and as Trixie has been looking at babies, so I have been washing baby clothes ! Daughter 1 has been given a bag full of newborn stuff, I have dragged out the beautiful cot blanket knitted for her as a baby by M-in-L. 28 years old and still beautiful. It's a good few years since my washing line held such tiny garments.
Sunflowers given to my favourite yong man, Charlie ,3. (daughter 2's friend's son- my new best friend- he calls me Eggie ;D) On the lottie things are mostly brill, I now have two men offering to rotovate the last bit for me,  8) and I have made the momentous decision to stop messing around and sprinkle the blue slug pellets. I have been given an Oregon blackberry  bush and a round courgette plant. Things are so much better now all the plots are let. The old stalwarts are still there with their ' they wont last long' attitude (I overheard one saying " are you going to plough the stubble field" refering to rotovating my plot 1/2 covered in straw) but our end is very friendly now. Long may it last.

souds like life's good, maggie.. :)
I've succumbed ? is that how you spell it..?..bought 4 baby vests and 3 sleepsuits, 0 to 3 months..but sam just won't even look at them until her 20 week scan ( 20th may)..she's still so worrried even though we've seen the 16 week one and everything's going fine..i don't know how to reassure her..still, maybe when she's had that one, she can relax a bit  :)
TWO men, you flirt, you.. :o, still, anyone who'll rotovate your plot for you is good news..
how long's your daughter got now..can't be more'n a couple of weeks ?

anyway, gotta go..open the poly doors then off to parents in law..we're taking them out for the day :)

Jeannine

Hi Manics, I am picking up on your news after the fact so I don't know the  start,so I am guessing a high risk pregnancy here. I have heard you mention it before but didn't know the details. My daughter in law in Canada got through a very worrying pregnancy 2 years ago after 4 miscarriages. The last one they had told her had tested positive for spina bifida and thet wanted to do an amnio to confirm it which she  refused in case it made her miscarry again. So she sweated it out, well we all did. After the scary time for the miscarriage was passed we still were very anxious and  scared right to the end. Hollyanne was born 2 days late, perfectly normal. It was a very long nine months I can tell you.   XX Jeannine

Oh Boy, more babies to be added to the A4A forum. I hope everything goes well for all expecting Mums. Manic my very best wishes to your daughter, I am sure you are all getting  very
excited. I had to keep things in my bungalow for Chloe-Ann as Gemma also didn't want things at hers. Bit of  panic at last minute :) although she did have a set of white outfits at the ready. Manic just a little warning be careful about those 0-3month sizes, Gemma bought some and because Chloe was quite big some are a bit tight, in fact she is wearing some that (great) Aunty Lorna bought her, the next size.

Finished my first raised bed yesterday going to attempt the next one today if the back holds out :) Remember Manic I said they were going to be quite high so a lot of filling to do.
