I grew Marion swede on the lottie last year - they did quite well despite limited water but we found the flavour a bit strong for our taste - can anybody recommend a sweeter variety?

Thank you!

sadly no-I grow Marian and never found it too strong- but taste is such a personal thing-I wonder if the lack of water made it a bit stong?

I'm trying my mother this year - variety Joan from the Org. gard. catalogue.

Well it would helpif I gave the right variety, wouldn't it!  When I checked the pack it was Ruby...perhaps Marian would be a better bet?  Why are they all named after ladies?

:)  Hee-hee - my Egyptian male students' word for a woman who's build they appreciated --- "liftiah", which translates roughly as "built like a turnip".  :) :)

ooo, I am growing Ruby.  :o  Strong flavour huh and I can't provide them with that much water due to our ditch drying out.  Oh well, shall have to see what we think.  :)

I find it is a matter of personal taste EJ - you might find them delicious!  I might give them another go as I'd rather have something occupying the ground over winter.  AC x
