Thanks so much Scotch-Mist !  It's actually tomorrow, but I've already had pressies off the in-laws (gardening stuff of course) so I don't feel a fraud by starting early !

Was up at B&Q yesterday and the OH asked if I wanted my birthday money then and there.  I was only buying boring stuff so I said no.  I'll save it for something exciting that I haven't already budgeted for yet like a greenhouse watering system!  Anyone got any suggestions ??
