Allotments 4 All

I limed a bed around six weeks ago in order to plant onions in it, however my plans have changed and now I want to plant carrots in it. Will this be OK or do carrots hate newly limed beds?

I think you will be ok growing carrots there   Especially with all the rain we have had of late. I always give my soil where my roots are going  excepting tatties a good dusting of lime  a couple of weeks before I sow them.  They  grow ok .. The optimum Ph for carrots and roots supposedly is 6 to 6.5 but up to 7 to 7.5 they should do ok ..Give it a test with Ph meter  if you think it is a lot higher than this ..

we put a layer of leaves in the bottom of our carrot bed, recommended by someone in a book somewhere, they're limey, I think,  ;D
