I would like to have another go at kale,I have tried it in  the past a long time ago  with some seeds I was given,I don't know what they were.I  found  the plant to be very strong and bitter. I presume there are differnt kinds, I would be obliged id someone knows of one that is not so strong, or tips on how to grow it to make it better.Thank you Jeannine

We grew dwarf curly kale last year and were very pleased with it. Contrary to advice we started cropping in the summer - before the first frosts - and are still cropping now.  Prone to attracting white fly but they don't seem to do any damage.

Have some spare seeds if you'd like?

we tried kale a few years ago..we ate too much and got bad stomachs..we were told we should only eat the new fresh leaves..so we're trying again, black tuscany kale..you can have some of these seeds if you would like they were part of the free package I got from thompson and morgan  ;D

We have been having since last year and I must admit it tastes alot better now the leaves than it did. I steamed it on Sunday and it was lovely. So I think after a frost and the new growth.

Oh goodie, I told my husband tonight we were planting kale and he said, honey I will plant it but you won't get me to eat it.mmmm there a challenge.

Broccoli gets him Apple Pie,Brussell Sprouts get him Lemon Meringue,

Cabbage gets him Trifle.

I think I will win this one too. Jam Roly Poly I think.

Can you believe I am married to a man who doesn't like veggies.

XXThanks for the help Jeannine

We grew Ragged Jack last year (from the HDRA seed library) and it was beautiful. Only problem is that the pigeons think so too: they allowed us a few servings but have now moved in for the kill! So cover it well!
