here is the ryme from SS
When I get old I don't want people thinking
"What a sweet little old lady"........
                             I want em saying
"Oh Crap! Whats she up to now ?"

Sow not squash in Aypril clere
For then the frost will nip un sere
But when the first week's past in May
Choose a Moon in Fruiting Day
When May be past, plant out in June
Again, await the Fruiting Moon
A yerde apart is whyche the waye
Plant boldly then and crop for Aye

Thank you Shirlton, it's lovely, & lovely to see it originated from Supersprout.  I have posted it so other people can appreciate it too.  :)

PS - I wonder how you 'plant boldly'?

manicscousers

In February winds grow keen
Dunn'ee sow no squash nor bean!!!
March makes winds grow keen and rude, fer
Only spuds and Couve Tronchuda
April wavers false and fickle
Only fit for beetroot mickle*
May's the month thy squash to sow
Then June into your garden trow**

*mickle = a little sowing of beetroot, probably in the greenhouse, unlike a muckle, which would be a main outdoor sowing

** probably an archaic form of 'trowel' i.e. to use a trowel rather than simply 'to throw into the garden'

Just seen the second part with SS's explanations.

Thanks again Shirlton.
