HI

Over the sound of the dryer, washing machine, microwave and the radio i was quite shocked by some loud banging. Looked out the window and there was a gale blowing with torential rain and hailstones bashing down! Its lasted about 20min! And we have have over an inch of rain in that 20 min.

Looking out the back window the platic cover for my 4 shelve greenhouse is just about off it been ripped to peices!!

So i have got my candels out, filled up a flask with hotwater just in case we lose power and i am going back to bed!

I shall go out later to collect all the debris!!

haha

Someone already picked up my bin as they were collected this morning and when empty they fell over and started to roll down the road :-)

Yellow Petals

I've had to go and retrieve our dustbin already today  >:( (just glad it's empty!)

The birds are having trouble staying on the feeders - they think they're at Alton Towers or something.  Half my plants are flat on the ground, although I'm sure they'll be ok, they're not broken just bent over.  Miraculously, the back fence is still standing!!

I have to go into town later so I might just put some rollerblades on and get blown up there!

Just had a phone call to say my poly greenhouse cover is shredded... :'(
I hoe, I hoe, then off to work I go.

Oh no!!!! :(
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Mrs Ava

So sorry for anyone who has suffered damage in the wind today.  The lunch time news said Essex hasn't had the full force yet, we have that to come.  Well if what we have had isn't full force, think of me worrying later when the old boy is coming down the A12 on his motorbike.  :-\

So far everything seems to be okay structurally.  Things have been blown around the garden, but if things are brighter tomorrow, I will go and have a clear up.  Dread to think what the allotment is like!!

Blue Bird

It must be bad - we have had very high strong winds  here on the Wirral. We are normally quite lucky with the weather.  Checked the lottie and 1 shed blown over and lots of mess every where, tried to tidy what I can and re-covered the compost bins.

Really feel for the rest of the country - hope you all are not too effected

The high winds woke me up then blew me to work. Raining cats and dogs just after I got to work phew! just missed a soaking and my recycle bin is somewhere in the midlands if anyone finds it please return to the address on the bottom of the bin. ;) ;D ;D ;D ;D :-*
MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

Barrie went up to the lottie this morning to check the sheds, and could hardly stay on his feet. Gusts of up to 60mph and we are only in Somerset! Fingers crossed for all you folks up country.

lorna

Had to get the car out of the garage as I was doing afternoon school run for Lorna. I really was getting worried it took all my strength to hold the garage doors in the right place to drop the bars into place. I reversed out of the garage at quite a speed, I was thinking if the bars pulled out I would have one flattened car!! A couple of 3"x3" posts are leaning very slightly towards Lorna's garden but fortunately the panels are still holding. The posts were put in with those metal things  (can't remember the name) so hoping a couple of male family members will put them right

Couldn't get hold of fiance (previously OH!) this morning - had said I'd call when ready to be collected from hospital. Decided not to panic..he turned up - power cut at home - 60ft tree down across garden plus power lines - jolly god I didn't get cross then!

Southern Electric had it all fixed this arvo - good for them!

just to let people know that the wind is due to come back wednesday afternoon and will be with us best part of a week!

Multiveg

Back garden fence is falling apart and blowing away. The one side panel is wedged but bend between next door's shed and the metal crosswire fence at the back of his garden.
3 panels have been damaged, and its only a matter of time before the rest go.

Yellow Petals

My son has just started work with a landscaping / gardening company.  I told him from the middle of the week onwards they'll have work coming out of their ears!  ;D

Robert_Brenchley

There was a bit of damage round the allotment site the other day but nothing too dramatic. It was all pretty predictable, since it was the wobbliest gates and fences that came down.

Hyacinth

Think I live in the eye of the storm ::)  Went into my garden yesterday for the 1st time in over a week....1 twiggy bit of next door's silver birch to pick off one of the lawns, a table which is sitting on a decking square on another had moved sideways a few inches but not even been blown over.....nothing else at all! Even the last sprout plants & ESP were still firmy staked. Amazing.
