Allotments 4 All

Taken from my womens institute Christmas book, this is a rich and slightly sticky fruit cake.  Marzipaned then covered in fondant icing to look a bit like a cracker.  Time has been against me due to decorating the stairs/hall and changing the kitchen to fit the new range cooker in.  Plus I have had 3 to do - all similarish.  No piping which made life easier!

Worth the effort and the ancilliary stress!  Looks terrific EJ, well done!  :o :D

Really loved your cake EJ. Looks lovely - really classy and unusual.  Every year I mean to do something a bit more adventurous but some how it always turns out a bit boring. Here is mine which I did last night, very ordinary, but next year I am determined to try something a little more creative.  Hopefully at least it will taste nice!  :D busy_lizzie

Oh they both look amazing, mine is still sitting in the tin sans marzipan & icing & now remembered I haven't got anything to put round it.  No end to the things to remember.  :-[

No.1 son has been cooking to order, finished the icing etc at 2am this morning :o 8)

I have made one for ourselves, which is currently iced and half decorated! I also made 1 which I cut up into 4 small cakes which I gave away as presents  :)

I marzipanned ours this morning ready to ice and got the icing out only to find I have picked up Ivory instead of White - am feeling quite cross with myself at the moment!

didn't know you could get ivory, very distinguished tulippa! :o ;D

Oooo, I love the Ivory Tulippa.  I have done several wedding cakes with that colour and I think it is incredibly classy!

Yes, it's got a picture of a wedding cake on it, would be lovely but for what daughter and I were planning on doing it might not go and she is not happy.  Just trying to see if we can work round it at the moment.
