Grrr@your lottie neighbours maggie, if it's any comfort they're just like mine! ;)
Last week the site rep actually knelt down among my (multi sown) onions and showed me how to thin them (gaak). Must mulch em quickly so he can't see how many there are per station 8) Thought I'd got away with the easy onion planting method (thrown on under a thin layer of mulch) but then the wind whisked away a couple of square feet of dry top mulch and Exposed All. I got a right lecture on dibbing in onion sets I can tell you :-[

Say you're doing an experiment for HDRA? since you won't be digging or weeding much, plenty of time to wander round with a notebook and thoughtful expression ;D

I guess I am lucky then, for I rarely get visitors. If they were like yours, I think I would keep my gate locked from the inside ...  ;D
No gates other than the main one, Curry. Indeed I re-marked my boundry line last week.It seems when I agreed to a path between my next door neighbour and me, I didn't realise the path was taken only from my plot.!!
SS what a comfort you are! Do you think it's 'cos were wimmin? I'm  determined to show 'em that I'm BETTER than they.Haha, watch out you.........men.(of Wakering of course)

Boy, did I have a great day! What do ya think of my efforts as apprentice mulcher then folks? Not only did I get it down,I put 2 rows of onions and a row of garlic in ;D. Got some lovely rotted stuff from underneath the stuff on the floor of barn and put that on first. Very cosy to kneel on whilst planting. ;D

Mrs. K.P., re mulch on strawberries.  No, you don`t mulch them over winter.  The normal growers` practice is to set fire to the straw mulch.  This sounds a bit drastic, but it doesn`t harm the plant, and burns away all the nasties that might be hiding in the crown of the plant.

MrsKP

isn't that playing with fire ?

(i'll get my coat)  ;D

i've just transplanted 20 or so plants into a new bed, so what should i do with them, just let them be and cover them up at any stage ?
