Mrs Ava

Nope, I enjoy mine year round - summer salads, autumn stir fries, winter stews.  LOVE ME GREENS!

Hyacinth

Nothing at all to do with kale, but everything to do with GREEN...how green does calabrese have to be before it's edible? Mine's a sort of grey-ey colour  - and lots of it :o

cleo

Yep that`s the colour-a sort of blue green?

And Tim-snap-at least one thing is growing properly-take the kale now cos you know it will grow back.

Tomorrow is another day-probably the last for my cat `Rags`-even hardy perennials fade some day :'(

I suggested leaving it because the flavour improves with a frost - they are gutsy and strong flavoured plants, lots of iron in them, a frost helps to convert the sugars, and you'd only be picking the younger leaves anyway, they are usually always big plants - for me they are part of my winter produce and I wouldn't dream of picking them until about late October onwards (maybe sow them a bit later unless you want to eat them now)

And Tim - thanks for the picture - yep they're like that 8) Goodeeee ;D
