I have always grown White Lisbon but mine have big bulbs and not very substantial leaves which I like to use in cooking and for decorating salads etc.  Is it something I am doing or would I be better with a different variety - which do you grow? I would be very grateful for any recommendations.

Thanks
T.

A nitrogen feed will improve the leaf growth, pull them when the bulb is at the size you require.

I always grow Guardsman or Ishikura. More difficult, I believe, than Lisbon, but I too like greenery!

Having said that, having always thought that Lisbon were 'salad onions' with a pronounced bulb, I see from the catalogue that they are similar to all the others??

Thanks Mike and Tim,  Mike, I will try feeding them, and Tim, yes they look more like onions.  I have just been looking on seed websites and wondered about Guardsman, I know you can't always go by the photo but they looked more luscious.  Thanks for your help.   :)  T.
