I bought one of these at Renishaw Hall in Derbyshire today.Found some info on the web about it, but just wondered if anyone here has grown one and how easy/difficult/fussy it has been?

Oh, you lucky, lucky person.I have been trying to get hold of this for years. From what I can gather it likes a deep, well drained soil with a goodly amount of food and sun!
They do tend to flop so  support is needed (I am going here on the similar C. recta.
If it sets viable seed I would sell my.............whatever for some fresh seed.
Hope it grows for you.

Thanks, Palustris. Renishaw Hall is certainly worth a visit if you want one- probably a better bet than waiting for seed from mine, but I'll try to remember!

Palustris

Thanks. I think it is a bit far from us though. I will wait!

Don't know if this is of any use Palustris, Chiltern Seeds list Stans on their website.

Palustris

Thank you. Yes have seen it, but sadly it will not normally germinate from stored seed. There are many plants sold of which the seeds have a very short life span, but it would be bad for business if they told you that!

I'm surprised they get away with it; stored seed which won't germinate is clearly not of merchantable quality! But that being said, it's unfortunately common enough.
