Saw this during the ten minutes drizzle. We think Yellow wagtail, but no doubt you know better.

I am sure its a 'grey'wagtail Eric.  Should be called a yellow wagtail though!!  I see you have some of the wet stuff as well.  Not reached me yet.  It will rain here when everyone else is back to the scorching sun.

Palustris

Ours definitely had a yellow head, not grey like the one shown in our book and on the Web.

Ow well you will be right then, its just that the yellow wagtail is not common.  lucky you.

Yellow; greys have a grey head with an eyestripe.

I seem to remember a bird called a yellow hammer could that be it.

No, that's fatter, a shorter tail, thicker beak, and streaked brown and yellow.

And if you can persuade one to sit and sing just a little closer there will be a picture of one!

Not as good as Erics Yellow Wagtail, but here is one of my regular visitors  the Yellow Hammer.

Palustris

Wowwwwww! wow and thrice wow!
Nearest we ever get them is about 50 metres away on the telegraph pole. there are a fair number of them on the lane, we counted 17 one day last year.
