have made up a very stinky batch of Nettle Fertilizer, and it has now turned a dark colour and stopped foaming so it should be ready to use. Will mix it one part fertilizer and ten parts water...

My question is, can it be used generally on all plants etc, or do I have to be careful what I use it on.

Thanks

I'm so pleased you've asked this Q - I've been wondering the same thing.

I think you can put it on anything. I use a mixture of comfrey and pee, and it can't be more noxious than that!

If you dilute it to 1:10 it should be OK for most things, except roots!
;D

Sprout

I use it at the rate of one medium sized ex-pickled onion jar to one 9 litre watering can!  ???
Not exactly sure of the ratio, probably a bit less than 10:1 but seems to work ok for me.

Like sprout I have my own measuring system that consists of a dollop and then a sloosh - very scientific, works out at a little less than 10:1, and then I run away because it does smell truly evil!  Like somenody with very bad halitosis who's been bathing in a ditch next to a pig farm on a sunny day.

I use half a four pint milk container to one 7 litre watering can - two watering cans, one full bottle - sorted and very precise - Not.  If anybody can be bothered to be that precise whilst they have their nose hanging over that stuff, they deserve a medal.

ahem, if you don't dilute it 1:10 and use it a bit (a lot) stronger than that, will it kill the plants you are feeding ?

redimp

If it is neat it might kill the plants with a nitrogen overload but I trid this on a weedy patch last year and they thrived.  But dilute to approximately 1:10 and you should be alright.
