Lots of new birds taking flight for the first time at the moment. Snapped this little blue tit after he/she nearly landed in my lap as I sat in the garden having a drink.

Mum and Dad were in attendance and finally managed to coax him off to the sycamore at the bottom of the garden

hee hee, don't look like a blue tit does he ?

i've had loads of baby sparras and dunnocks (i think) but no baby tits  :'(

the babies have no fear do they ?  just kinda sit around chirping and looking for mum to feed them.

keep meaning to get a sonic cat scarer, one nearly did a back flip double solkow today trying to get to some birdies on the floor.  thankfully he missed all of them but if any chicks had been about they're could have been murder .... literally.

lovely pic.

I think i've just seen a couple of juvenile type robins !!!!  would i have done ?  probably my age and eyes, but they certainly seemed to have a reddish breast and not very sparra looking.

poor wee dunnock's sitting on top of the shed atm looking all lonely.  guess mum got fed up with him constantly wingeing.

;D

edit:  THEY ARE ROBINS !!  just seen mum feeding one.  oh HOW exciting.

Juvenile robins don't have red breasts, and aren't chased off by adult robins. They get their red breasts in the autumn when they moult, and then get chased around the place till they either find a vacant territory or starve.

saw about three of them close up.  and having looked at the RSPB site, definitely junior robins.  as i said, the old eyes ain't so good from a distance lol.  these three were following mum (or dad) about the hedge by the shed.  if i have my way, they won't starve !! lol
