After doing  a little shopping and returning my "new" hoover to the agents AGAIN
I decided on some gardening (nice day here in the Fens) so I did some work in the greenhouse, did some weeding and really tidied up the garden. Spent some time sorting the bird feeders. I was thoroughly enjoying the sunshine and then after two hours my d**n sciatica set in with a vengeance!! Withdrew to the house, couldn't hoover (what a shame!! ;D). I do not watch much television but have had some Dvd's which a friend gave me. I sat down and watched On Golden Pond (had seen it once before) what fine old actors Katharine Hepburn and Henry Fonda were (IMO). Then in the evening I watched Shirley Bassey an audience with . Then guess what? I returned to this keyboard and spent nearly two hours googling the three people I had been watching. All in all not a bad day :) especially as two of the kids with wife/husband popped in to see me.

Hi Lorna, hope you are feeling better.  We shifted a trailor load of  manure, took us 3 of us 2 and half hours, with snow occasionally fluttering around us.  Went home for bath, watched 'to catch a thief' on TV whilst we recovered our energy and then out for tea at a local pub ... in bed by 10pm (v early for me).

Snow today - folks are supposed to be going to Lancaster to collect grandkids, but looks like they're stuck here for the day / night.

MrsKP

i did more on friday (day off) than yesterday, it got bitter yesterday and scuttled in early to listen to my football team on the radio.

had a couple of friends round for dinner (inpromptu) followed by a few more after the pub ..... which is when i'd had enough and went to bed.

don't know what time they all left but the OH came and woke me up to look at the fresh snow.

mum suffers dreadfully with her sciatica and i get the odd twinge as well, so you have my sympathies Lorna.  one session at the chiropracter and mine felt a lot better, just got to save up and have some more sessions.  mum had started seeing a chinese therapist and i must ask her how she's getting on with that.

i love just googling, you find all sorts  ;D

AGM yesterday which took up part of the morning, but I pushed hard with the rest. Managed to plant out 7 asparagus plants, and a row of broad beans (germinated in the greenhouse).  Also raked beds for onions and more beans. Dug trenches for my early potatoes (international kidney) which are chitting nicely on the dining table. If the weather 'softens' I may plant them next week, we will see!

No gardening today, I am a taxi service for my daughter ...
The impossible is just a journey away ...

I had a lovely day yesterday planting seeds in the greenhouse and preparing beds. It's been snowing today so I donned my 'thermals' and sat in the shed making paper seed pots with Parkinson on the radio  ;D

Wow, looks like you have all been busy. I have just come in from garden done several more jobs but it has now turned very cold, fingers are freezing but I can't stand wearing gloves.
I do get very frustrated as apart from the flipping sciatica I am in very good health but once that sets in I am "fixed" good and proper.
I suppose my best bet is to do a little each day in the garden. I have checked the fu*hsia and geraniums cuttings and also sown some seeds.. so quite pleased. I keep looking where members are situated who are getting the snow. Hope we don't get it!!
Lorna.

LORNA! I know the feeling about sciatica etc  :-\

I'm 40 but I'm plagued with tennis elbow, trapped nerves in my shoulder and some sort of affliction of my toes that means they REFUSE to work as part of my feet!

I'm taking herbal remedies: Cod Liver Oil, Green Mussel tablets and Evening Primrose. Can't see any improvement in my toes yet but it gets me out of bed in the morning to take them  ;D

Relaxing really.  Had chums coming for dindins so I spent the day getting the grub ready.  We had an Italian menu so a mixed antipasti for starters, some salamis, hams, roasted veg, cheesy breads, olives etc, then for main, thanks to Doris Pinks, Chicken Catchatorri with linguine, green salad and home made ciabbatta.  We rounded off the meal with fresh fruit tiramisu which was divine (and there is some left for my darling and I tonight, along with half a bottle of italian plonk to finish  ::))

Today however I sowed loads and loads of seeds like leeks, french beans, chysanths, dahlias, beetroot, spinach etc and moved my germinated seedlings all down to the greenhouse to slow them up a little.  Then after a nice light lunch we dragged the kids to Danbury Common where we had half an hour playing football and frisby and then went for an hour long walk through the woods looking at the newly emerging shoots and listening to all of the birds.  The ground is amazingly wet up there and the kids were trying to identify prints in the wet mud....horses, dogs, birds, people, bikes, tractor and we think badger and fox!  We also watched a sparrowhawk ducking and diving after something in the long grass.  Now the kids are watching TV, I am talking to you lot, and my darling is reading the paper!  Lovely day!!

Shhhh, don't tell anyone, but tomorrow...I am going to the allotment! ;D

Emma That sounds one really great week end!!!

Friday night I became a 'statistic'.......did you know that most of the accidents in the home occur in the kitchen? :o

Ravenous about 9.00pm so put a soup plate of...er...soup? in the micro. Fell over my feet taking it out & got boiling soup splattered up the rt.hand side of my face and neck. B. soup had pearl barley in it which STUCK...

Saturday swollen face and neck with purple/brown patches. Loads of pain, so mindlessly (how else?) played around with forums. Evening used my bamboo steamer to cook some salmon and green beans from the freezer. Tainted by the b. (not for bamboo) steamer. Threw it away. Had some of friend's lemon curd and french bread - nice :D

Today, no pain but still picking bits of pearl barley off my face along with strips of skin. Disgusting. Got some thick white Weleda cream plastered over half my face so I look like a clown who's given up the game.

Rushing in and out of the kitchen...lid ON, lid OFF my new steamer, trying to get rid of the orrible smell.

Tomorrow I'm going out to mug-a-muslim friend for her burkha. ;D ;D ;D

Best thing to do with a burn is to pour loads of cold water over it at once. I once tipped boiling water over my hand, and stuck it straight under the tap. Most of the scald healed extrmely well, but I didn't get the water in between my fingers, and the bits there took much longer to heal, and hurt far more.

Alishka,

have a salad tonight  ;D

Get well soon,

Jeremy

Gosh Alishka I bet that really hurt.  Hope that you are feeling better today.
I spent yesterday a bit poorly with a tummy bug (not my time of the year at all) Feel much better today thank goodness cos have a house full of family and some friends  that all wanted feeding.  Made a gorgeous roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings and for pudding a humungous strawberry and fresh cream gateaux.   Everyone else cleared up while I had my feet up with a glass of wine and a cuddle of baby Medi, youngest daughters soon to be god daughter.  Lovely ;D
Take time to stop and smell the flowers.

lorna

Oh Alishka. I do hope you are feeling better (even if still starving). I hope everything turns out OK. That must have been really painful.
After reading the posts from you and  Trixiebelle I feel a bit guilty when I moan  about
my sciatica!!!!
I  hope both of you  feel a lot better.
Love Lorna.

Hyacinth

Thanks Lorna, thanks all. Haven't got any pain now - just look a fright :'( and yes, I'm ravenous. Can't decide what to eat - deffo think that something uncooked and not needing a knife is the way to go :D........hmmm...chocolate?

And sciatica is SO painful - as Palustris will agree. Can't sit down, can't stand up.......orrible it is. :'(
