Minus 7 here tonight. Going to bed with my hat on.... :)
I travelled to a mystical time zone
but I missed my bed
so I soon came home

Derekthefox

Just bitter cold ...

Robert_Brenchley

Freezing in Birmingham.

Think you'll be needing more than just a hat, Max.... ;D
yes, supposed to be bitter, time to dig out the hot water bottle I think! Has anyone else here heard of a glow baby...?

Derekthefox

Is that something warm to cuddle at night?

Derekthefox :D

undercarriage plan

LOL!! No, it's what my mum used to use when I was liitle. It's a light bub, in a wire cage, and you put it into the bed bout 15 mins before you get in, and the bed is sooo toasty and warm.....either that or I survived numerous murderous plans....  :o ;)

Derekthefox

Hmmm, no chance of that when I was young, the bedclothes were often stiff with the cold. Ice on the inside of the bedroom windows of course, I can remember standing as close to the living room fire as possible in my pyjamas to get them hot, then racing upstairs to dive into bed before they cooled down ...

I can remember being quite tiddly, going into my parents room and standing in awe looking at the frost patterns on the inside of their window, I asked dad how long it'd taken him to do??? I was soo impressed he'd made all those wonderfully intricate patterns in the ice.... ::)

I can remember being quite tiddly

So you started drinking at quite an early age then ...

boris

No snow yet in sunny Farnborough (none at all this year)
Got a very red nose in the garden this afternoon though (due to cold temp of course)

Still thinking

Robert_Brenchley

I used to take it for granted that bedrooms were unheated and cold in winter. It was just a question of diving in as fast as possible, then reversing the process in the morning. We didn't get anything like as many colds as people do these days.

Derekthefox

You may well be right there Robert, although I was quite a sickly child, and normally had two or three colds every winter. Now I get one, or nothing, and I put that down mainly to the gardening, giving me copious amounts of fresh air ...

i can't bear to sleep in a heated room. makes my nose feel stuffy and my throat sore.
cold room, warm (heavy) blankets. lovely and snug

Tara xx

Derekthefox

That is strange isnt it, I used to love the cosy feel of heavy blankets, now I can't abide them, a quilt is all I can stand ...
