In answer to a question elsewhere, it's a question of chucking in whatever appeals to you - but start with http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/database/leekpotatoandbaconso_3682.shtml

What I can never understand is the American idiom, in recipes, of a bunch of leeks. That would be a couple of pounds over here??

Yum, this was my dinner last night - oh and probably my lunch for the rest of the week as I like to make enough to feed a small town!  ;D  Surprisingly, my recipe is very English and has items such as '3 leeks' and 1lb of potatoes.  Just what is needed with the cold wind at the moment  :)

Ahh Wardy, sound just like me.  I find that every road leads to a pub - or a drink of some kind  ;D

Just the sort of recipes we need at the moment.  It is a dark dank day here in Whitley Bay.  Leek and potato soup would really fit the bill, lovely warm and comforting food.  :P Thanks Tim,  :) busy_lizzie

I was making soup last night and I burned the onions.  Drat! Oh well it was just a bit browner than it should be but it tasted ok  :)
I came, I saw, I composted

Now Wardy, was that before or after the pub  ;)

I always say, just caramelised, Wardy.  :D I do that a lot with carrots. busy_lizzie

Just converted 2 pints of chicken stock, assorted home grown leeks, spuds etc into a huge bowl full....cheers again Tim!  ;D
