Allotments 4 All

Firstly did anyone on here watch the first three programmes?

Secondly who was as surprised and as disapointed as i was when the BBC decided at short notice to cancel the programe on Thursday?

To me its typical of the BBC to do this. Come up with a likable gardening programme, then after 3 programmes axe it and show 'FLOG IT' instead. To me there are enough of these types of programmes and precious little gardening shows on the BBC these days.

I read an article in AG about a debate the RHS hosted a while ago, about the state of/future of british gardening. So called 'experts' claimed it was 'dying' (a claim refuted by such people as Alan Titchmarsh and Peter Seabrook I might add).

Well if it is 'dying' then no small part has been played in landing the fatal blow than the BBC, by axing virtualy all gardening programmes from its schedules apart from GW!

There is a thread on the BBC gardening message boards TV section where you can complain and  the Points of View programme has a thread on the BIG DIG.

BBC2 is showing repeats of bits of Flying Gardner and a new programmes with DG training would be gardeners starts this Friday at 8pm, just before GW and A Year at Kew is still running on Thursdays.    It's not enough and nowhere near matches all the junky car boot, attic and antique programmes that dull the brain all day.

Maybe if enough people bother to post on the above mentioned boards, the BBC powers-that-be will get the message and do more garden programmes and plan to show the Big Dig at a sensible time for Lottie people.

Not much use just moaning on here where they won't ever read it.

I emailed Beeb and Jeremy Vine but he has a big police debate on so I don't know if he'll mention it

Joji has said she'll got and see Terry on his lotty (and take messages from us maybe)

Just like to add that i HAVE posted on the BBC message boards about this. I have even started a campaign thread to put some pressure on the Beeb to do something about it.

Yes we have taped all 3 of the programes shown so far and we aim to tape the rest.

Yes we are prepared to go and see Terry our selves. If you will PM ALL YOUR MESSAGES TO ME THEN i WILL PRINT THEM OFF AND GIVE THEM TO HIM AND INVITE HIM MAYBE TO COME ON THIS SITE AND EXPLANE HIMSELF WHAT HAS HAPPENED. aNY ONE WANT AN AUTO GRAPH ?
