Raised beds?

Built three small ones (5' X 4') this year and they have proved invaluable

Mine is simply to avoid accidents and illness this year, get the d**n thing dug over (I'm only just getting to the point where I cam manage digging again) and deal with a large mass of bramble, nettle and raspberry. The raspberries are no good and will have to be replaced.

What about wintering in the tropics??  ;D

Derek I can't see the logic in small beds, there is always too much waste space in between, too much path and not enough growing area. I am aiming for raised beds but they will have to be 6'x12'

Rose.mary I must dissagree with you there. You can make up for that lost space by sowing fast growing veg like radish in between slow growing veg.

But I see where you are comming from in the fact that you do loose alot of space. But if the person is happier gardening that way and it is easier for that person to manage then it is ok in my outlook.
