Mrs Ava

Not curled up on the sofa watching TV with my darling, but spent in the kitchen cooking up 8Ib River Cottage chutney, 3Ib green tomato in balsmic vinegar chutney, and juicing 2 sack fulls of apples to have a go at making cider!  That is all the windfalls taken care of, now on Friday I shall pick the 'keepers' from the tree to store.

Haven't stopped allllll day and am feeling absolutely done in!

Happy first day of autumn by they way.

Nite nite!

Did I ever have that much energy?????  Good going EJ - when is the tasting - keep us posted how the cider turns out - I fancy a drop of that.....
Equality isn't everyone being the same, equality is recognising that being different is normal.

::)  God! EJ, I get exhausted just reading your posts. How do you do it girl?. :-\

Derekthefox

Yes well done, I wish I had as much energy ...

And the first day of autumn eh?

Derekthefox :D

Your'e a marvel EJ.  Wished we lived nearer so we could sample your cider too. :D busy_lizzie
live your days not count your years

beejay

I can only marvel - I feel so inadequate!

Palustris

I can only marvel when I watch Anne doing all that kind of thing, and making dinner and cleaning and mowing the lawn. It makes me tired just standing over her making sure she does it all correctly.  ::)
Yeah and that'll be the day too!
Three cheers for the indefatigable ladies!!!!!
Gardening is the great leveller.

I will be the first to agree with you Eric, here here !

This indefetigable lady was having an Italian meal out (as I complained my OH never cooked) and then we took our B and B guests down the pub for sausage sarnis (yes I did have them too) and the quiz.  Rolled home after midnight  :)

I came, I saw, I composted

Now that's a way to spend an evening!

I had a wonderful day yesterday too - out at 8am snuggled into my fleece, chopping back blighted tomato plants and picking green fruit. (I'm trying to ripen them, but will probably make chutney with the tiddlers.)

Then back indoor for a soup-brewing. I made kale and potato soup (with the tiny and damaged spuds). Trouble is, never had kale before, so I'm not really sure if I like it!

Then out riding (almost managed to fall off - oops!) and home via the farm shop for a few more veggies. And another three hours in the kitchen cooking up roast potatoes, roast parsnips, roast squash, sage and onion stuffing, nut roast, broccoli and carrots, with onion gravy. Sadly only the potatoes, sage and garlic were homegrown, but at least I made everything and most of the rest was organic.

Blooming knackered after that. Was delicious. But Mr Aqui wasn't happy with the amount of washing up!

Tonight we're having curry roast squash (homegrown - but not by me!), parsnips and leftover roastie spuds in dolmades - as per EJ's recipe on recipes 4 all.

hungry now - where's my brekkie?
gone to pot :D

wardy

That sounds delicious Aqui  :)  I made celeriac and chicken chowder the other night which was wonderful too.  Looking forward to all these winter veggies to make gorgeous warming meals  :)

I don't clean my car anymore as it's just a kennel for the dog and doubles up as my tool shed  ;D

Five dogs!  I have my hands full with just the one  :o
I came, I saw, I composted

Derekthefox

I can't be doing with wasting my time cleaning my car either. And it hums inside of horses because my daughter leaves riding hat and gloves in there. But it is just a cart to me, so I don't care. I use it to collect horsemuck too.

Derekthefox :D

dibberxxx

my old car was just a skip for the kids and dogs , but since i got my new car not brand new but the nicest car i have ever had , the dogs are banned and kids are not aloud to eat or drink in it , dogs can go in oh car and kids can eat in oh car but not mine , i promised myself i would keep this car nice and not like a skip on wheels  ;D ;D ;D ;D

wardy

So do I!  Disgusting innit  ;D  I got ashamed about a year or so ago and cleaned it out. I found all sorts I thought I'd lost  ;D
I came, I saw, I composted

dibberxxx

if you could of seen the state of my old car well, my mum hated getting in it she said when she got out see was covered in hairs , more hairs on her skirt then there was on the dogs , when i used to clean it out i would easy fill up a black back it was disgusting lol

Derekthefox

Yes but the advantage of having a skip on wheels is no-one wants lifts of me, except the family. And no-one wants to nick the car either ... And since all I want is a peaceful life, it seems to work.

Derekthefox :D

dibberxxx

wish that was the case in our house Derek , i a just a taxi on a night for the kids taxi in the day for my mum , all weekend just a taxi for everyone ,think i never drive the car to a place i actually want to go

Derekthefox

Dibber, that is actually the same for me, the only personal journey is to my guitar class on a Monday night. All the other mileage is ferrying to work, stables, dance classes and shows, shopping drop offs etc. Mind you I am not complaining, except some of these journeys could be completed on foot ...

As long as I can collapse of an evening in the chatroom with pleasant company ...

Derekthefox :D
