These pair of swans have managed to rear their five cygnets on the River Tweed.   Lovely birds.  Now are they good enough to eat.

Carol They are so beautiful. I am ashamed to say I have never been to Welney Wash where there are hundred of swans. your photo has made me think.. I really must go this year, I live so close to Welney. Lorna.

They are beautiful Carol !  We have a couple of family of swans here on the river Lea.  They have 7 babies each and doing well !  It's nice to see wildlife bouncing back !

Swans are going through their moult at the moment Lottie and seem to congregate on Estuarys. 

They are beautiful birds but have to be shown some respect!!!

Don't I know it, Carol!!!! My heart was thumping in my chest when Jack was feeding them, and was ready to jump in if necessary, really smelly mud, so glad didn't have to.... :-\ But I also don't want to pass on my paranoia about them to kids, rather they developed their own paranoias!!!!! Hence my fixed grin and wide eyes on having to handle spiders when they watching...... :o Lottie ;D

when candy~floss was about 2yrs, he asked me to hold out my hand saying he had a prezzie for me
so i excitedly put my hand out & he dropped an 8ft(slight exaggeration :P) spider into it :o :o
i screamed
candy~floss screamed....& he's been frightened of spiders ever since

Thanks Greenwizzard.  Only cos I got my paranoia from my mother, who to this day, insists she was bitten by a large spider when she was a little girl, whilst laying in bed. Mind you, if they dropped on into my hands, with no warning, you wouldn't see me for dust!!!!Gives me the shudders thinking about it!!!! Lottie  ;D

Not swans!! My 6ft son is terrified of spiders, his wife is afraid of mice. They have and agreement (occasional mouse in their outside loo, they do have a bathroom as well LOL) so John gets rid of any mice and Donna gets rid of spiders in the bathroom. Lorna

Definitely match made in heaven!!! When kids have gone to bed, I make my OH check our bedroom for spiders!! Love them in garden, but in bed??? :o :o :o In return, I do dental runs!!! Lottie ;D

I am pretty placid sort but one thing that always really gets me in a temper is if people taunt others with something they are frightened of,. My eldest daughter is terrified and I mean terrified of spiders. She worked in the same small firm as me. I came out of my office one day and the young boss was saying he had a spider and was going to put it on the table.. I am 5ft2ins he was over 6ft  I told him if he didn't stop I would lump him one hard.. I didn't get the sack ;D I worked for them for 11 years :) Lorna

Awww Lottie, dental runs vs spiders, sounds like you got the raw deal!

I am very happy with spiders, although sometimes they do tickle a bit much.!

They not shown themselves to be happy with me though .. .  :D

The picture was taken at the Swing Bridge at Melrose, you been there.  The Swans were coming down the Tweed once we finished our walk and we walked back to meet them to get this picture.  Plenty Swans at Berwick just now, they are a moulting!!!

yes carol been to swing bridge loads of times theres some nice walks in the borders now plenty of wildlife to see new 41/2 mile walk just opened At earlston not done it yet but sounds going back to swans apart from watching them i like to drink in them (white swan black swan) LOL

Took the kiddies to Thorpeness today, Carol, on boats? OH had to come and rescue me!! I was holding an ice cream and found myself surrounded by swans!!!! They were pulling at my t shirt, quite gently, I have to say, but I was terrified!! Ended up standing on picnic table, holding my ice cream aloft!!!! Kids found it highly amusing, for some reason...... :-\ Lottie  ;D
