Blame old age and school hols, but for the life of me I can't remember who sent me a lovely lemon cucumber plant, fantastically wrapped!

Well, it has produced it's first 2 fruit, and as I have no idea how big they should be before picking, these are inbetween golf ball and tennis ball size.  Number one daughter is hoping to enjoy these for lunch tomorrow!  ;D

Strange looking things.  You'll ghave to give a run-down on their eating quality if you get a taste.  Would be fun to grow next year.  ahhhhh, but are they indoor ones?
Neil (The Young Ones) once said "You plant the seed, the seed grows, you harvest the seed....You plant the seed....."   if only it was that simple!!!

Mrs Ava

Well they are growing outside, but under 2 halves of an old greenhouse roof, so they are benefiting from some protection.  I shall report back when we have cut them open.  ;D

Sure you started with plants? Because i send you seeds.

Mrs Ava

Hiya Ruud, the seed I started rotted off  :'( and I thought I was out of time, so chatting to someone, and I think it is the gallery arty lady, and she said she had a spare if I was interested!  ;D  So what do they taste like Ruud?

They taste nice just like a cucumber,i find they have a little bit more flavour. They were cucumber number one on the market in australia.

Mrs Ava

YAY!  Kitty!!  Of course, wow, old age is playing havoc with my memory! All I can say is she hadn't been toooooo well....

Kitty, Hope you are okay matey!  The lemon cuckes are going great guns!!  ;D

Mrs Ava

Just to report back, the lemon cucumbers were a huge hit with the queen of cucumbers, daughter number one!  She ate both, almost like apples, but she did let me and her darling Ava have a little taste.  They are much sweeter and firmer than regular cuces.  Much more flavour.  Next year I will try to grow several lemon cuces and less courgettes!
