Hi, sorry I haven't been here for a while :-[

I am, as you may remember a complete novice, trying my best to get green fingered ;D  I am growing some pepper plants which now have some small peppers on them ;D ;D ;D

However, they also have, what I think is green fly :-\

What is the best thing to do to get rid of it, and, if I can't get rid of it, what will its effect be on my peppers :-\

Thanks for your help, and sorry for the silly question :-[

Ladybirds, lacewings and hoverflies are best - the easiest to directly attract are hoverflies by planting marigolds.  The ladybirds will come of their own accord once word of your greenfly gets round.  All these take time though but the adivce on here seems to be soft soap for a quick fix or one of the fatty acid spray on solutions available from most diy stores.

Depending on how bad the infestation you can also simply rub them off with your fingers.

Try this.  Something productive to do with horseradish!!! ;D

Anything that bites will surely burn their mouth ;D

Repellent Spray
1/2 cup fresh spearmint leaves
1/2 cup green onion tops
1/2 cup horseradish roots and leaves
1/2 cup red-hot peppers
2 tablespoons liquid detergent
Water

Blend spearmint leaves, onion tops, horseradish and peppers with enough water to cover the mix. If the blend is too viscous, add more water and blend again. Strain and ad 1/2 gallon of water. Add liquid detergent.

To use, dilute 1/2 cup of Repellent Spray in 1/2 gallon water in a sprayer. Store the unused portion no longer than 3 days.

Greenfly (aphids) don't bite, they suck the sap of the plant. I just blast them off with a high pressure hose. It works.
