Tim, I have to say, I don't think I've ever seen such a grand greenhouse!

Mine greenhouse ones are there too, I'm having difficulty getting them to continue to fruit -perhaps partly because they're in bags and it's difficult to get enough water into them. Any tips? Or do I have to wait for the outside ones to come in?

Ours are 2 to a bag &, on average, get a litre of dilute fertiliser each, each day - double that in hot weather.

Good god - how long does it take to water all of that lot?

Fortunately, I was able to run a mains supply under the 'herb' garden to the greenhouse.

60 plants - 10 secs each = 10 min. And I run the hose through a 2 gallon dilutor which gives them a 160.80.320 ppm feed at each watering from a 2.1.4 base.

And a weekly seaweed foliar feed.

This year is the first time I have grown cucs successfully, mine are in an unheated

greenhouse and the fruits are approx 4-5" long.

I am feeling very maternal towards them all ( 4 plants)

Good for you , Debs - but, depending on variety, don't let the fruit get too large. We pick our 'minis' at 4-6". And DON'T miss the 'lurkers' - behind, at the bottom - that get coarse like the 2 on the left & stop the plant growing.

Production? There are at least half a dozen folk (the Emmas of this world) who grow double our little offering. They must be chuckling!!

And don't be fooled by statistics.

My cucumbers are Tasty King F1.

Although the packet says harvest August onwards,

there is no mention of how big the fruits should be when harvested.

Can anyone advise? as I do not want them to be bitter tasting.

But, in general, you can tell when the fruit is evenly shaped, dark & glossy & feels heavy. Once you've got one right, you'll know in future.

I am growing tasty king, and tasty they are...in a cucumber kinda way!

Mine are being picked between 8 and 10 inches, but if I need a cucumber for tea, then whatever is there will do!
