got up at the crack of dawn and me and the oh dug and hoed and tilthed a sweetcorn bed-planted 20(nother two beds to come later)dug and hoed(but not tilthed cos this area of the gardens a bit clayish)-a brassica bed-planted 8 brussels sprouts and 8 mini caulis-not grown these  before so i dont know if i'll get caulis or.well.big green plants.. ;D

cleared and area to the side of the house which,we were very happy to discover ,had been beautifully paved with old bricks in  patterns but over the years had just got all rubbishey and weedy-now we have a patio where i can cook outside next to the veg patch-adjacent to this there was a weedy patch of soil-cleared and planted now with sweetpeas..climbing beans..and 20 lettuces of various varieties
planted 25 very sturdy  sunflowers in the south facing front bed...........
cleared the bit between the sheds so i can see where the tools are and dont have to rive about in a heap of ...pots and stuff...
oh is now spragged out on sofa inspecting inside of eyelids  and snoring gently...
after teai shall pot on the purple sprouting and calabrese  and pot up the last of the tomatoes....... :P

tomorrow i shall move like a sprightly woman of 187. ;D

aquilegia

sounds like a wonderfully productive day!

and lucky you for finding the old brickwork!

my gardening for today has included getting the tomatoes and courgettes out of the shed, where they are currently spending the night, and puuting them on the decking by the point. did also spot a newt. and inspected my broadies.

tonight when I get home I shall put the toms and courgs back in the shed. Look at my aquis and check if the mini greenhouse needs watering.

Remind me why I need to work...
gone to pot :D

Get those slaves to bring you a glass of wine while you're in the bath after all that hard work

BAGGY

I did naff all today in the garden.  Had to go food shopping. Deep joy.  BUT.  I did buy more seeds.  I'm adicted.
Get with the beat Baggy

Justy

didn't do much today but potted on tomatoes, peppers and tomatillos, planted hanging baskets and watered grow house and pots as still no rain here.  Looking forward to 30th of June when finish job and don't start new one til September. I will then spend every spare minute (which with a 4 year old are still few and far between ::)) in garden and on lottie.  ;D

My ma is very ill in hospital so have to visit twice a day.  Have been to lotty with  my 9 year old niece who was very excited to pick radishes and put straw mulch round my frosted spuds. She cleaned the shed, turned the compost and walked the dog round the plot.  She had a lovely time cleaning and tidying the shed with the radio on. I think she's a chip off the old block.  An old lotty lag came by to bring me some celeriac and it turns out that he and she are old buddies and he runs a gardening club at her school.  Very soon they were eating celeriac tops, discussing where to buy straw and manure and eating radishes/  She was very happy indeed, very relaxed and glad to be out in the sun (only for about  5 mins).  Who says kids can't emjoy simpe pleasures  :)

Mrs Ava

Dragged my darling Ava kicking and screaming to the allotment this morning!  He put a lid on my tomato growing station to try and reduce the blight.  He then moved a spare water butt half way up my plot to encourage me to water up that end, mind you, to fill it I will have to carry buckets of water from the ditch to the butt!!  He then pointed out some weeds, and that some of my onions have flowers on them  :-\.  He then netted my strawbs for me.  Meanwhile, I planted some more squashes on the plot, deflowered  :o the onions, weeded >:(, and earthed up my spuds.  Good couple of hours work.  ;D

ahh wardy-we've had that situation type of thing last year..but it sounds like your neice had a whale of a time-

I've got to get to grips with my front garden which I never go in as I can't stand the racket from my horrid neighbours  :(   It's really a mess so that's what I'm going to be doing probably for the next month!

Kitty    You'll appreciate this living in Lincs as you do.  My niece phoned yesterday to ask me how to get her car started as it's got a flat battery.  I suggested she and her mate push it towards the nearest hill  ;D  ;D

I'll get me coat  ;D

What did I do yesterday? Wish I was in the garden!

I did sow my soya beans in the heated propagator when I got home, and pop my tomato Tumbler into the hanging baskets to establish before I pop them out next month.

There's still a queue of things needing the propagator, but I'm gradually winning. I hope.
Have enough courgettes/squashes now to fill the beds available, I've got French Beans growing happily and runners running.

Soon be able to get stuff out...

How I wish I had something to say about the lotty (or the weather for that matter!!)  I'm stuck in a concrete block in central London all week on a training course and after nearly 3 days I'm going nuts!  All I want to do is pick up a spade and dig something up but I don't think Westminster council would be too happy with me if I did.  Oh well only 2 more days after today for this week and then another 3 days next week and then the exam before I'm back to the plot.

Are we expecting any decent weather for the bank hol weekend after next?  I've not got my runners out yet!
Getting there - just rather slowly!!

Moggle

I had the day off work feeling poorly, but perked up in the afternoon enough to go to a garden centre and get a couple of strawberry plants (Symphony - been looking for some of them for ages!) to add to my collection and a couple of organic growbags.
Cut one growbag in half and put a Gardeners Delight in one, and a Craigella in the other. Also potted up other various toms and courgettes and strawberries.
Finished my day by harvesting some salad leaves from a growbag, which I'd sown a couple of months ago - first real harvest from that  ;D They were delish!
Lottie-less until I can afford a house with it's own garden.

wardy

Glad to hear you're planting out Moggle.  Fresh salad which you've grown yourself tastes better somehow.  I've been harvesting mine for a week or so now and it grew beautifully in my little plastic link a bord boxes with fleece over.   Radishes are good too.  Too cold for anything to go out yet so we have to wait til about June!
