Gotcha Rat!!

About two weeks ago, we discovered we had a resident rat.  Being a bunch of pinko liberal vegetarians, we went out and spent over £20 on a humane rat trap.  We cleaned out the whole garden and the sheds so it did not have a food source - it moved into the compost heap!  Yesterday, I lost patience and said that if it did not go into the trap I would resort to poison.  I also threw some rhubarb leaves into the compost heap and stuffed them in the rats hole in the hope that their repulsion to herbivores might work on the rat.  Today, I get home from school and low and behold - the rat is in the trap.

PS the only person I dislike enough lives just across the road.  That is a bit too close for comfort so I am going to have to find a nice isolated spot about five mile away to let it go.

Aww - I thought he was quite cute - told you I was a pinko liberal.

Have been thinking - if we could rid rats of all their associated diseases, they wouldn't do muchmore than benfit in towns really - they do sort of clean up all our rubbish don't they?

Well done catching him, but I very much doubt he was alone.

Sociable animals, rats.

We do think he was alone but the trap has been reset just in case.

Redclanger,

Well done on humanely catching Mr or Mrs Rat.  Although carriers of disease and not very pleasant, they have the right to life and I am glad you released the beast somewhere "oop noorth"!  ;D

Have had them before and don't wish them to visit again !
:D ;)
Enjoy today to the full.  You are not sure of a tomorrow.

Had a laugh regarding honeybees' remarks about ex husband. THANKS maz I thought it wa 10ft!! I am now afraid to go ouside in the dark, must hurry up and go and vote before it gets dark. Years ago when we kept a lot of pigs I had a cupboard type thing with cupboard at top and three drawers underneath which I kept medicines in for the pigs. I was in the farrowing shed watching a sowhaving her piglets and our old labrador was going mad round the cupboard. I said to my daughter must be a mouse, so Vickie opened one of the drawers and I saw the dog run.. What was that Vickie? Only a rat Mum it jumped on my lap and Sally chased it.
Glad it was her and not me.(she is only terrified of spiders)..

honeybee
