What do I plant in it?

Any ideas what to plant up?

I've tried summer bedding, spring bulbs, even an acer, but nothing seems quite right.  Any suggestions would be most welcome.  Would a gardenia work?

Dunno, but what a gorgeous pot!

Tulipa

What a lovely pot.  Would a collection of lush herbs look good in it, I don't know, it looks the right shape being wide and low.  I just looked in my book - Container Gardening through the year by Malcolm Hillier, his low planters all seem to have collections of plants in, but all his pots look so good!  Good luck.

I think a low pot needs something tall in it. How about a standard gooseberry underplanted with flowers. Or something like cannas would look nice in that.

BAGGY

You could turn it into a water feature / bubble pot if you're stuck for plant ideas.

Thanks all!

Phew what a response! ;D

One thing I forgot to mention, the ants seem to like it.  I used to have a japanese maple in it before the ants did their worst.

Tried daffs, but the ants just infested the bulbs. >:(

I like the idea of a productive tub tho, perhaps a regular duxting with pyrethrum would help

BAGGY

Fill it with ice and cool wine in it on a summers evening ?  Not very attractive but practical.

Now isnt that odd, as soon as i saw it i thought...'Japanese maple'...lol

I thought the shape of the tree would complement the shape of the pot......maybe not then huh?   :(

Lovely pot though
