Hi all
I have been a regular visitor to this site now for about 18 months, and I have found it very informative, but I have never posted.

I would like to know if anyone could offer advice on where i could get greenhouse building plans.

I have been looking for a second hand greenhouse for ages and have even bid on houses on eBay. Money has always been the inhibiting factor.

I have now decided that I would like to have a go at building my own. I have tried to search the internet, but I've not turned anything up yet.

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Money? Join the club!!

This won't help but, to me, the nicest looking DIY ones are in www.queenswood.co.uk . Not cheap.

Hi Boonyed,

I was lucky enough to be given a shed this week.
I already have a windowless tool shed so
I`m converting it into a potting shed/greenhouse by replacing most of the walls and all of the roof with polycarbonate. I`m basically cutting big window holes in the walls but using the wooden frame for the strength of the structure. I will use semi-opaque plastic as for security i don`t want anyone to see in and i dislike glass on the allotment.

I should have wood left over for benches and edging paths later.

Could this be an option for you if you can find a used shed?

I found that people advertise in free-ads giving glasshouses and sheds away for free if you can dismantle and transport them away.

It may depend on how long you can wait.
I was becoming frustrated at having no place to chit potatoes, raise seedlings and protect plants waiting out the cold weather as I have no space at home.

Best of luck, Col

Hi,
I came across this site:

http://www.tdc.ca/matt.htm
Looked interesting.

Or put an add in your free local paper wanted greenhouse? you see free ones offered if your willing to dismantle them. Good luck

Derek

The local papers are the thing..there are many greenhouses going begging and all you need to do is dismantle and collect.
I got my 12' x 8' greenhouse this way.

Many people today are not into the gardening as we know it  ;) it's all decking and gravel so the greenhouse is redundant and often in the way

Give it a go

Many thanks for all the replies, I'm going to try the links and take it from there.

I have been trying the local and free papers to no avail, but the shed conversion thing looks a possibility.

I'll let you know how I get on.
Cheers

Well I took the plunge and bought a 6'x4' greenhouse out of the bargain pages, got the greenhouse, parasene heater (new) 5l fuel, a pressure sprayer, stageing, loads of pots and trays and half a dozen packets of seeds for 70 quid!

Spent all day yesterday cleaning it up and putting it back together. I laid a slab base and was going to glaze it today....but have been beaten by the weather.

Can't wait to get started!!! thanks for the help and advice

:D You are very welcome, Have lots of fun with it, I`m sure it will be well used.

Meanwhile - (for those who wanted to know) ;D
My shed conversion continues, I now have an assembled wooden structure and today found a source for reclaimed plastic to make it weather proof.
