It was half price on sale and crying out to be taken home so I did, mainly because it has no thorns  :icon_cheers: and I needed (wanted) one to cover a rusty arbor.  Will it be as fragrant as the rose hawkers claim?

I had one at our previous house.  Loved it, but it does tend to flower all at once, so I grew sweet peas up it as well, so extend the flowering period.

Here's mine growing under my kitchen window. Lots of people comment about it and the scent is wonderful. It will also repeat flower if we have a good summer.  You will be very happy with it.

That's a neat idea. I'd only heard of clematis grown that way. Sweet peas struggle here since it seems to get too hot quickly. But maybe the peas would do better semi-shaded by a rose. I'll give it a whirl.

ZephirineDrouhin does tend to suffer a lot with mildew but if you spray just before it normally gets it in your garden you can prevent it but you will never cure mildew once it gets in. The best spray in my opinion is Fungus fighter used to be called Sisthane ( might be spelt wrong)

Thank you for that idea. We live in a high humidity area.

I find that ZD does not enjoy being grown close to a wall but really benefits from good ventilation, growing on a fence or arbour (although I have to say, DE, yours looks stunning).
