pruning a peach tree

hi, have been reading about pruning a peach tree and it states late summer or spring,would one of you experts out there think it is too late for this year and wait or ok to go ahead and prune .have never pruned the tree in 4 years so is in desperate need of some tidying and tlc

I think I'd follow the advice that you've read in books.

If the peach is similar to the plum it should be pruned when the sap is rising to prevent any nasties working their way in via the wound.... I'd wait patiently until the right time of year rather than risk losing your peach tree.

Ours was all done by august, I've never pruned a peach this late, I think Aden is right  :happy7:

Not sure if you are thinking of an indoor peach or outdoor one but when I had charge of several indoor ones , I did main pruning early spring and then side shoot pruning as the growth came along. aiming at getting good spacing between the branches and and keeping the centre open.
