Oh I think we are definitely on the slippery slope towards blight.

Tomatoes and potatoes looking ok so far, and I have few spuds up wind this year.

Identified on my plot today, hence dug up all my first earlies  >:(. Maincrop seem fine at the moment.

Don't spray, won't spray but will cut off the haulms if it spreads!

Took off lower leaves from the toms as it can splash up as well as come down.

Smiths Period reported for my area too but no cases of the b**** Blight so far.

I'm going to be digging and eat those lovely little tatties just as fast and soon as we can.


I gave up growing outside tomatoes three or more years ago - it was so much effort disposing of huge mounds of semi-rotting fruit and vegetation that, even with fingers crossed, I just couldn't take the risk again.  :(

Here we go..... It has started here, we sprayed last week but it still showed up.

Dug a few up under the blight, spuds in good nick but small.

GOt a possible case here in Swindon... will spray tomorrow , I've got heritage stuff and home-raised varieties out there that I want to protect... it might just be Highland Burgundy being a bit weird on me, but it did look awfully like blight... surprised it didn't hit the Lumpers first though....

I have blight in Home Guard  taken the haulms away, and a few spots on the leaves of Yetholme Gipsy.  There is a row across the site looking very sick.  Home Guard Size ok, taste poor, not like last years crops at all.   Have volunteers from last year quite different,

Got up the plot first thing and sprayed, hopefully with the steady force 8 reeze through our site it will dry on before the rain starts again.... I just hope I'm wrong....

There is a notification every 3 days now  :(  so far no incident reported locally, but it can only be a matter of time .....

Looks like I was being oversensitive... it's some fungal problem but not blight.... the plotover the other side of the road up the middle of the site from me has blight though.... I'll be spraying again at the weekend, thankfully he is downwind from me...

All of our spuds are now cut down including desiree, the potatoes are a decent size, just hope we've caught them early enough  :-\

I live in Poole but have a plot in Wimborne.   I looked at most plots the other day and everybody has it.   I have got just over 1 row of Sarpo Mira and they are fine but the Desiree and Picasso I cut the haulms off the other night as they had blight.  I dug 10 roots of Picasso and managed 20 "clean" tubers - the rest had either been eaten or badly split.

Still clear here, I thought at one point we had, and took off 2 haulms. The outdoor toms are still fine at the moment, flowering but no set fruit yet.

All my toms and potatoes have been blighted. Ripped up all 15 tomato plants and cut down all the potatoes. We didn't get to eat one tomato  :'(

I gave up growing outside tomatoes about five years ago for that reason. Just as the fruit was beginning to ripen along cam the (annual here) blight and left me with bags loads of plants and delaying fruit to dispose of. Not a good game at all.  >:(

All my tomatoes are now grown under glass - so far successfully.  :-X

did you save the green tomatoes?  They will ripen on the windowsill and be ok to eat.
