Hello,

I need some Straw to put under my Strawberries.

Does anyone know of a supplier in the Birmingham area please?

Thank you,

Martin.

No idea, I'm in Wiltshire.  But make sure you use STRAW and not hay.  I did 'cos it was available, it all went mouldy and damp.

Thinking about it, a quick drive / ride out into the country should reward you with a farmer willing to offload some.
Cheers,   Tony.

Do you have a livery yard near you? I go and take the 'sweepings' from the hay and straw barn (loose straw on the floor, it's clean). You could ask..... ;)
Smile, it confuses people.

Thank you for your replies, I will see if I can find any horsey places locally.

Martin, I think that Shirley will have a phone number for the farmer we had ours from.  You could pm her.

If you can't get hold of straw you could try shredded cardboard (put small amounts through a paper shredder). It has similar properties particularly if you shred corrugated cardboard.

I use bracken. It does the job and....it's free.

bracken spores are believed to be carcinogenic

brilliant idea re cardboard shreds, I`ll be using that
