There was something on TV about liquorish, it was quite interesting, apparently the queen mother used to love the stuff, and it rots your teeth, I was thinking about getting some, but im new to growing and it seemed like it was very invasive and a lot of work (beyond me) to do, maybe as i get more experience I will have a bash at it

Sorry, digeroo, the others have dried out and died, I'll do some more n autumn, if you're interested, I can send you a piece of root then to do your own root cuttings  ;D

Can somebody put me right on this licorice stuff. I was interested as it would be nice to give the grandchildren a taste of my younger days, chewing wooden licorice sticks, but everything I google come up as the plant being poisonous. Am I looking at the same plants.

Yes please I would love a piece anytime you can produce one.  I luv licquorice so much.

I will try and remember in the Autumn but I am rather scatterbrained.

Is licquorice toxic. :o :o  There seeem to be some suggestion that it is in excess.  Not at all clear how much is too much. I remember hearing about someone who died from drinking too much carrot juice.

I just dig up bits of the root in autumn, plant some and chew some, not to excess, just like the taste. It's a bit stronger than sweet liquorice, more like stickylice? sp. from my childhood  ;D

Digeroo

Have you tried the Australian licquorice they sell it in Sainsburies.

I should be ab;e to let you have some in the autumn or next spring digeroo... I have a plant (that needs planting out TBH...)
