I always manage to kill these off, I take it they're very tender  ;D
I bought some more last year and they seem to have survived although the white one looks a bit sick. Do I have to keep them in pots here in the wet and windy north west or can I plant them in the ground. I'd like them to flower at least once before they 'peg it'  ;D

Mine is in the ground.  I treat it like the dahlias and cover it up with straw for the winter.  It was fantastic last year and flowered for ages.

I saved quite a lot of seeds last year, I think I'll sow some tomorrow.

Whereabouts do you have yours, squash? sun, shade, damp, dry?
I can provide most of these, are they better in the ground then?
Mind you, we got -15 last year, I'm not surprised they died  ;D

Mine is in a fairly sunny position but it does get some shade. Another plot holder has a big clump in a more sunny spot than mine.  My soil is fairly light and I mulch heavily so I don't have to water often.

Do you grow Dahlias Manics?  I would think that if you do, you would be alright with these.

Linnea

I have a number of agapanthus in pots which are then sunk into the ground. I read somewhere that they like congested roots to flower well, this seems to work for me!
mine mostly survived last winter although the two newly purchased ones in small pots didn't as the pots froze through. some in bigger pots I thought had died but came back very late in the season.

Another name for agapanthus is Nily Lily so they like sunny, freedraining soil.

Thanks for that, Linnea, I'll try them in bigger pots in a sheltered, warm place this year  :)
I don't grow dahlias, Squash but there are lots of others on our plot that do so must've just been bad luck before, here's hoping  ;D
