I saw a plate of chips yesterday on a tv programme (not a clue which one) but I keep visualizing the image! They looked so good, now I'm in torment imagining the smell from them and my mouth keeps watering at the thought  ;D

I NEED CHIPS, NOW!

I get like that about cheese on toast, but not allowed such a high fat thing now.....shame!

I do low fat oven chips though, although not as satisfying as the chip shop version unfortunately.....you have made me want chips now!!! ;D
If it's not pouring with rain, I'm either in the garden or at the lottie! Probably still there in the rain as well TBH....🥴

Oh, yes, cheese on toast!  I'm not a chip fanatic, although a well cooked chip is a lovesome thing, God wot.

If one is concerned about high fat foods (and I suppose I should take more care), how about one of these Air Fryers?  I'd like to sample the product before spending a lot on such a gadget, though.

we  had the actifry one, excellent chips, roast potatoes etc. The lid cracked so we took it back for a replacement. But they gave me my money back. As I was surfing the net to find a cheaper deal I noticed replacement lids were featured quite a bit which made me think if you have to replace the lid on regular basis it would be a tad expensive at £35 a time. Unless they rectify this design fault I will now wait for the philips model to come down in price before we get another.

Those air fryers have also been on Watchdog for bursting into flames!

Here you go - it was 3 years ago, not sure they've fixed it yet as they never admitted it was a problem! http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/watchdog/2008/11/chip_pans_up_in_smoke.html

Last night the memsahib and me had fish, chips and mushy peas.

O.K. the chips were pre-cooked frozen jobs and the mushy peas came from a tin, but the fish was a medium sized cod I caught off Watchet in the Severn Estuary.  Filletted, skinned and dipped in beer (lager actually) batter,  Nothing better.    ;D   ;D    ;D   Cheers,     Tony.

Just down the road we have a chippy and always bought them on the way home on a Friday with chipshop curry, but just keeping the weight down at the minute so it's a no go, :)

I used to come past the chippy on a friday. Get one whiff of the aroma and brakes went on, could not resist them. I am sure they had a blower drifting the smell across the road.

Nowadays they think they can do the same with enticing you into Subway, That discusting smell that permeates shopping centres is false. It certainly does not make me feel inclined to buy what is basically a processed bread roll, no matter what the filling is.

But a roadside cabin cooking bacon baps is another matter and if I have trouble with my prostrate which is the latest scare, I shall sue Denmark ;D

Cut your spuds thickISH and blanch for 3 mins in boiling water.  Drain and put lid back on pan till needed.  Drain again and chuck chips in pan/fryer.  You get lovely chrispy chips with less fat (or so I am telling myself)
