ceres

Happy Christmas to you too!

They appear to be singing in the language we gave you so I can't think we'd have trouble understanding  ;D

Odd thing to want to find in your Christmas stocking though  ;)

Poolcue

Be nice to it, its christmas, goodwill to all men.

ceres crabs in song are Callinectes sapidus The Chesapeake or Atlantic blue crab,
best steamed with aj spices or old bay.

understand you in uk do get other type crab of a personal nature but i thought this was  pg board except the watershed.

am getting insulted by wood stick.

ceres

I guessed what kind of crab it was, still not sure I'd want one in my Chrstmas stocking though.  A side of Scottish smoked salmon, yes, a jar of Beluga, yes ..........

you put crab in pot for boiling not the stockings they would die in stockings.
anything less then 2 bushels is bad crab feast.

ceres

Don't they die in the pot when you boil them?

They'd ladder the stockings something dreadful though    ;D

As an ex-resident of Norfolk (UK not VA), I'd venture our Cromer crabs (Cancer pagurus) against your Chesapeake blue crabs any day.

Especially good accompanied by a dish of samphire when in season.

We may have to agree to disagree on that one.  But I must admit that the seafood from America's east coast is wonderfully tasty and varied.

My husband and I dined at the Rusty Scupper in Baltimore a few years back.

The food was delicious and the views over the harbour really enjoyable.  We had cream of crab soup for starters and it was the best we had tasted.  I can't remember what seafood we had for the main course but expect it was prawns as they are my favourite.

We will definitely re-visit the Rusty Scupper when we go again to visit my brother, who lives near Baltimore.

as a current resident of Norfolk, I'd have to agree that 'Cromer' crabs are the best!!
You couldn't make it up!

I always bought a Cromer crab every week when they were in season for my late husband, he reckoned there were none better.
