I've had a strange sort of day.  My son in Harpenden wanted us (me, his dad, his sister and family) to go to his house for Christmas.  The problem is - the dogs.  His house and garden are not safe for naughty dogs like my Vera so I offered to stay here with them.

They all went yesterday and are coming back tomorrow.

I can't really say I've had a quiet day because the dogs are far from quiet!  My daughter's Sheltie is much worse than my two, and that's saying something.  But they are no trouble really, and at their ages (14, 12 and 10) we would not put them in kennels.

The things we do for our animals!

Nothing quite that hectic here... although going to collect youngest son from the pub, when he was late for dinner, nearly caused a riot...  :-X

My Christmas was a bit of a damp squib to be honest, LOL.  Christmas Day itself was lovely, spent with family, but on Boxing Day I woke up feeling terrible (no, not self induced!) and today is the only day I've felt relatively ok - and I'm back to work tomorrow!! It all seems to have flown by so quickly this time!

Sitting here by my lovely tree, feeling a bid sad it is nearly over for another year.
In tuth I am shattered, worked loads of exta hours, went back to work Tuesday but yesterday was my first free day for a long time.Went to a local hotel with a friend and sat in front of their roaring fire having a good yatter with my friend and relaxed.

Going to hit the sales today to see if anything is left.I could do with a new winter
coat.

Must admit I still love Christmas.............

As a rule I am not keen on Christmas, but got up anyway. Kids slept till 9, good on 'em, then had to open the pressies. The kids got a Wii so they were happy. I got some perfume, earrings, books and a figurine of the Queen that waves when her handbag hits the light (that's a joke from my Frenchman hubby who always makes fun of her Maj).
Then had a cuppa and down to stuffing the duck, putting that in the oven - got the veg done and ready to cook. soon we were having a wee drop to drink, and at table, eating the foie gras (or chicken terrine for those who don't like it), then the duck, and some chicken for the youngest who doens't like duck, sprouts, roast spuds that I did really successfully, very crunchy, carrots, sweet potatoes and gooseberry sauce and gravy. Lovely. Cheese, then everyone was too full for pudding. Did coffee and we sat and watched cartoons with the  kids and played golf on the Wii  ;D

Now just get to get past New Year and we'll be right for 2012!
2012 - Snow in February, non-stop rain till July. Blight and rot are rife. Thieving voles cause strife. But first runner beans and lots of greens. Follow an English allotment in urban France: http://roos-and-camembert.blogspot.com
