Ragdoll Lady

I was with my mum and dad, uncle and posh great aunt who was visiting. We were all in the car on our way to a nice restaurant for lunch. We got stuck in a traffic jam and whilst waiting to move on I noticed lots of lovely trees at the side of the road full of apples. They were lining the path to some heathland so did not belong to anybody.  I just couldnt resist and leapt out of the car to quickly pick as many apples as I could :) For the first time in ages I was wearing a dress and used the hem of my dress as a trug to bring back as many apples as possible to the car. My posh great aunt thought it was hilarious but she didnt mind taking a big bag of apples back with her. It would have been a sin to waste such a good opportunity and Ive made several jars of apple sauce for my store cupboard.

We came home with 4 lbs of crab apples from cornwall, it was difficult to find a 'tree spot' near a parking space  ;D

If those sloes are for sloe Gin Brownowl23, leave them untill they have had a frost.

I'm just in the process of 'salting away'  1/2 cwt (56lbs) of damsons.    Brambles, crabapples then sloes in that order.  By the way,  picking brambles, don't forget Michaelmas ! ! !    Chewers,    Tony.

they are but they are already soft and they wont be on the bushes by the first frost. I will freeze them before bottling though.

Alot of them are hitting the deck courtesy of the kids, so I know they will all be wasted by first frost.
