plum worms

(I'm sure they have a proper name).

Mum has a plum tree (approx 3 yrs old).  Last summer her whole crop each had a little worm in it. 
Any ideas how she can avoid this happening this year.

Palustris

Plum sawfly maggots possibly. Very difficult to control as the moths fly in and lay their eggs. Not found an effective organic answer yet,still looking. Otherwise spray with insecticide after the petals have fallen and the tiny fruits have set.
Gardening is the great leveller.

Most likely plum maggot, these are the young of a moth I think.

You can put up pheromone traps in June to help control them.

Mum has this with the little golden plums she has in her garden....but I still eat them!  ;D  Not poisoned me yet....... :P
