What I would love to see is the BBC do a weekly prog dedicated to growing fruit and veg,no flash presenters just someone to take us all around the Allotments and let the growers take the lead. There was a similar prog once on another channel and I really enjoyed it. :)

I loved the big dig, i found it really interesting, happily watched the repeats on the old gardening channel  ;D

When they needed a new presenter on countryfile they asked for applications and in the end Adam Henson was selected.  Being a true farmer he relates well to farmers and running a tourist attraction he is also aware of educating and entertaining the masses.  We need the same for gardening.

A super communicator with a huge enthusiasm and expertise for veg growing yet also able to draw in new veg growers.  I am sure there is someone special out there somewhere.

I totally agree with Betula - pass completely on GW and have done for a long time now - it is now time and a perfect opportunity to bring us something new, fresh and enticing instead of a recycle of ideas and presenters year in year out - so there  8)  ;D

Froglegs

I think I'll stay with Beechgrove, apart from not having our Joe on it it's a much better program.

That would be g reat Betula.
oh yes. remember "All Muck and Magic" and a couple of series about allotments!  I managed to get one on dvd and I love it! That would be wonderful.

It does need a shake-up, I admit. But, Toby is a nice guy who has taught me a lot. Alys is a sweetheart, but not a tv natural. And, Joe, well......he bores me to tears.

Is Rachel de Thame coming back? She's another one who bores me- maybe she was picked due to her looks? (I'm a man!).

Monty seems a decent choice, but Alan Titchmarsh's practical tips on Garden Secrets make me long for him to stop faffing about in entertainment and come back home to gardening!

Mrs Ava

Oh no.  I hadn't heard this.  I don't like Monty at all and didn't bother watching GW when he presented.  Toby has been okay.  Would we be happy with any presenter?  We all want different things from the show.  They have to cater for beginners as well as seasoned gardeners.

Shame Monty is back, very disappointing.  Surely there is a new, young, up-and-coming gardener who could take up the challenge?

MAY THE CORN BE WITH YOU.

I`m sorry but I have changed to Beechgrove and I`m sticking with them. There`s nothing posh just plain down to earth Gardening .

Lottiman

Not sure that monty is the right choice but he will do a hell of a better job than buckland.Maybe it would have been better to have someone completely new.No matter who takes it on it wont be a easy task as there will always be someone who moans. If they put a program together that's half as good as beechgrove gardens they will have done well, but i find it crazy in this time of allotment and gardening popularity that they don't put more things on for us?

Well, with regard to her I shall quote my husband 'if you take her hair away she is not very good looking at all, in fact her features are very coarse.'

Bearing in mind her millionaire husband is a mate of the millionaire film producer Michael Winner, it just might have got her a foot in the door.  Not that I'm a cynic. :o

I don't know why the BBC don't just start a fresh with a new team,I'm sorry but Monty Don...well done that been there, let them put a team a gardeners in that get mud on there knees and boots for real and not this designer stuff to go with a posh scarf.

rosebud

Please would somebody remind me of the channel that Beechgrove is on .  I did watch it a couple of times in the autumn, & liked it very much .
Thank you Rosebud

Lottiman

Rosebud. It was on BBC 2 Scotland Sky channel 990 but as far as i am aware its not on at the moment

Obelixx

It's on from April to September and usually on BBC2 Scotland on a Wednesday but sometimes moves to BBC1 Scotland and sometimes moves day and time too.

There are some rather strong views about Monty's return being expressed on gardenersworld.com Blogs.   Interesting reading.
