It would be mainly for keeping Chickens/Cocks and im not sure if Kirklees council allow them on theyre allotments? If anyone knows of anywhere it would be highly appreciated and i shall throw some beer tokens your way ;)

Cleckheaton??

I think this area comes under Kirklees Council control and they don't allow 'live stock' on their plots!

You can check with them at;

Kirklees Culture & Leisure Services

Galpharm Stadium

Huddersfield.

Seem to be a few sites in the area, no idea if they allow livestock. Probably not - same as ours in Bradford.

Yeah it controlled b Kirklees council.I have emailed them asking if livestock is allowed but i may ring them tommorow aswell.
How did everyone else find out about local land/allotments?are they private owned or council?

Yeah hopefully some local members may see this post snd be able to point me in the right direction.

Yeah i have done that and went down to the local allotment yesterday but it looked like it was just for vegetables as there were no chickens or huts?

most councils around these parts do not allow livestock - chickens, pigs etc on allotments. Your observation would back that up. No inidication on the website so probably give them a ring to check. It may be that livestock is only allowed at certain sites in the district if at all.

I think it's true that councils can't ban chickens on allotments. It's been dicussed here before- try a search.

I'll come in on this one again regarding Kirklees.

Even Bees are classed as livestock and you can't keep a hive/s on the plots.

There was a big test case covered in the Examiner(local rag) last year.

Having said that if you plant your hive over the fence from the allotments you can have a hive/s. (Providing you have the owners permission to park your hive/s there!

I wished someone from the council would tell (my) bees not to come on the plot as they might get me evicted ::)

Hi Greenhouse girl here

But sorry not much help as I don't have an allotment, just a big back garden.

I know the Westfield Lane, and Whitechapel  sites don't allow livestock but there is a private site (I think) at Old Lane Birkenshaw.  It may be worth asking there.

I will ask some of my gardening buddies and see if anyone knows of any others in the area.  I am in Scholes so not far from you by the look of it.

Sorry I'm not much help.
