More Bangladeshi chillies

Our Bangladeshi plotholder Habib brought me some chillies today so I could save the seeds. I asked him what they were but he didn't know, apart from one that he said was 'Naga'.

so I took this one in the shade.

There were only 4 seeds in no.2 but loads of seeds in the others.

My son tasted a tiny bit of no.4 and said it was very hot but with a nice flavour.

Below is a photo taken today of another plant Habib gave me.  It has grown into a lovely short bush and has produced lots of chillies.

Only one of the 'bangladeshi' seeds you sent me germinated Squash. After 6 weeks it is still only about an inch high with 4 real leaves - all tiny. Is this normal?

I don't know Tricia, mine were sown on 30th Jan and they only have two leaves.  I'll take a photo tomorrow.

Did I send you the tall purple ones, or the short red ones, or both?
I've got more if you would like to try again.

Some chillies (Naga, Habanero, and  "wild") can take a month to germinate, try germinating in an airing cupboard, if you have one, as the higher temperatures can help.

I've just looked at my original request - it was the small red plant for the kitchen window sill. I think I'll persevere thanks Squash. I've got three other varieties on the go (though I really didn't intend growing ANY this year  ::) ::)).

Hi Tricia, these are my red Banglas, sown on 30th Jan.  I don't think they are any bigger than yours, (they might look it but the photo was taken a bit closer.)

Squash - your plants look a lot healthier than my tiny one does! But I'll leave it for a couple of weeks to see if it gets over the sulks. No big deal if it doesn't grow. I'll let you know if I'd like some seeds for next year. In the meantime - thanks!
