We have had the worse snow here since 1971 ('64 according to the neighbours - Brittany).  My OH could not get to work so unusually was at home.  At 11 am my daughter screamed that there was a fire in the living room.  We ran in and the oak beams at the back of fireplace were burning.  OH put it out and then removed the wood-burner.  It had two holes in the back that had let the sparkes through.  My children sleep above the living room so it is amazing that it happened when it did.  Got some brilliant Guardian Angels for it to have worked out as it did.

We have had such great help from friends, Uk and French, offering to shop for us and giving us milk and veg.  One friend managed to get to us in his 4x4 and take OH to buy a new wood burner and install it.

Best wishes to you all, hope you are all coping with the weather ok.

GuardianAngels R Us 8), ......brill Coco, that if it was to happen, it happened when it did, that's really great and reassuring news that the new wood burner is sound and it won't happen again.....still bloody shaken rigid by the thought of what might have been, tho :-\

To Betula's comment that you should write a book?.....any chance that you'd think, if you've not yet done so, of creating a blog of your life in France (encounters with vile vipers an'all?  :o)

G'won....I'll be an avid reader & you'll make an Old Lady v. happy ;)...

All the best to you and the family,

Mortality

eek..!

Your daughter noticed it before the fire alarms?

very scary

glad everyones ok
Please don't be offended by my nickname 'Mortality'
As to its history it was the name of a character I played in an online game called 'Everquest'
The character 'Mortality Rate' was a female Dark Elf Necromancer, the name seemed apt at the time and has been used alot by me over the years.
